How does the Scion Supercharger work?

The scion tC supercharger is a centrifugal supercharger design. This design features a scroll housing
and an impeller that is shaped similar to a turbocharger. It is not driven by hot exhaust gases
as a turbo does. Instead the supercharger uses a patented extended drive to couple the
supercharger with drive belt that is driven off the engine's crankshaft. As the supercharger draws
in air it accelerates and compresses the air internally. The scroll collects the compressed air
and forces it (at an accelerated speed) into the discharge tube, and then into the intake
manifold. This compressed air is mixed with additional fuel which results in higher
power output.

TC Engine Specifications:

2.4 Liter double overhead cam 16 valve EFI with VVT-i (variable Valve timing with intelligence) Horsepower: 160 hp @ 5,700 RPM. Torque: 163 lb.-ft. @ 4,600 rpm.

How to change welcome message on 06' Stereo

"SCION" is displayed on the stereo unit when your key is turned from the OFF position to the ACC position. You can change this text to your own custom text if you follow the following steps.

-Accessing "Customize Mode"-
Make sure the main unit is on, then turn your key from the ACC position to the OFF position. Now press and hold the MUTE button and then turn the key to ACC. A horizontal line in the screen will start flashing.

Let the horizontal line flash for about 15 seconds , then press and hold the Preset 1 button then turn the key to the OFF position.

-Editing Text-
You will now have a minutes time to customize your text. You will see the letter A flashing on the unit.
Press the Preset 3 or 4 buttons to change the flasing letter. With the letter that you want displayed, press the Preset 6 button to select it. (You are allowed to use 16 characters max) Press the Preset 5 button if you need to delete a character.

When you are finished editing your text, press and hold down the Preset 6 button. Your text will now be saved into the welcome screen. Your new text will now be displayed for 6 seconds.

Aftermarket Rims, what size fits?

The lug bolt pattern for the Scion TC is 5 x 100 mm. This is useful info when shopping for aftermarket rims. The offset is 45mm.

Scion tC now available in Canada?

We have heard from other tC owners that they are now selling tC's up in Canada. We've been told that some of the toyota dealerships in Toronto and Vancouver are now importing the Scion tC !
